Basic Mechanical Maintenance
Delegates will learn the basic mechanical principles and practices of the removal and refitting of gaskets/bearings chains and belts and basic drive systems.
Description
What you’ll learn
Our basic mechanical maintenance course enables personnel to carry out simple mechanical tasks safely and efficiently and be able to identify mechanical faults.
- Bearings: Recognise defects
- Remove a range of plain, ball and roller bearings
- Select and correctly fit a range of bearings
- Belt and Chain drive mechanisms
- Shafts and couplings including alignment
- Drive Keys
- Apply the principles and practices of workshop safety
- Use and understand mechanical terminology
- Read simple engineering drawings
- Identify engineering fixing and locking devices
- Select and identify screw threads (size & type)
- Use a wide range of basic measuring and marking equipment
Who is this course for
This course is designed for mechanical and electrical engineers who wish to develop an understanding of fundamental mechanical maintenance practices and procedures.
How you’ll be assessed
Assessment will be based on work products produced during the course, supported by a completed workbook demonstrating understanding and application of basic mechanical maintenance principles and tasks.
The student will receive a Training 2000 certificate upon successful completion of the course.
Prerequisites
To ensure the safety of all participants and maintain the progression pace of the course, it is essential that candidates possess a baseline of "on-the-tool" experience.
This course is designed to formalise existing skills rather than teach basic manual dexterity from scratch.
