Advanced Scaffolder Training

A CISRS Advanced Scaffolder Card Holder is deemed competent to lead a scaffold gang in all scaffold operations, including complex design structures. The Advanced Scaffold training is the first step in this process.

Description

The advanced scaffold course is designed to train participants to CISRS standards in the safe erection, alteration and dismantling of complex scaffold structures.

By the end of the course delegates should be able to:

  • Interpret scaffold drawings
  • Erect, alter, dismantle the following complex scaffolds safely and in their correct sequence (see ‘Content’ below)
  • Understand the procedures for producing, interpreting and using risk assessments and method statements
  • Erect complex scaffold structures in accordance with current regulations including TG20, TG:11 and SG4
  • Have a better understanding of team leadership techniques, how to best deal with other trades and site supervisors/ managers.

To be issued with an Advanced Scaffolder card, the following must be completed following the 10 day Advanced Scaffolder training:

  • NVQ L3
  • 2-day skills test (AST)

  • COTS - Claim £150 to help pay for a CISRS Operatives Training Scheme (COTS) course.
  • Newly Qualified CISRS Scaffolder - Claim £200 for operatives qualifying for their first CISRS Scaffolder Card.
  • Newly Qualified CISRS Advanced Scaffolder - Claim £250 for operatives qualifying for their first CISRS Advanced Scaffolder Card.
  • Newly Qualified CISRS Supervisor - Claim £500 for operatives qualifying for their first CISRS Supervisor Scaffolder Card.
  • CISRS Systems Scaffold Product Training Scheme (SSPTS) Endorsement - Claim £175 for operatives completing a CISRS SSPTS course and getting the system endorsement on their CISRS card.
  • CISRS Scaffold Inspection Training Scheme (SITS) - Claim £175 for operatives completing a CISRS SITS course and receiving an inspection card.

Prerequisites

Operatives must be in possession of a CISRS Scaffolder Card for at least 12 months before they can attend an Advanced Scaffolder Training Course.

Operatives must have passed a CITB HS&E Test (or accepted exemption). Valid for 2 years.

From the 1st July 2017, it is a requirement of the CISRS Training scheme, that CISRS Scaffolders and Advance Scaffolder card holders must attend a 2-day Scaffolder Refresher/ CPD course in order to renew their CISRS cards. Renewal is required every 5 years.

The industry-wide accepted proof of competency for operatives is to hold a CISRS Advanced Scaffolder card.
