Part 2 (Tube & Fitting)

The 10-day Part 2 course is the second stage of the required CISRS training for achieving a Scaffolder card. It can only be undertaken once Part 1 has been successfully completed and a minimum of six months’ relevant on-site experience has been gained. Learners are eligible to apply for a second CISRS Trainee card if necessary.

Description

On successfully completing the course, you will be able to erect, alter and dismantle scaffold structures safely and in their correct sequence under suitable supervision.

Training objectives aim to ensure that at the end of the course you will have knowledge of:

  • The correct and safe methods of erecting bridging beams, loading bay, splay, truss out, pavement gantry, roof saddle, cantilevered protection fan scaffolds, in tube and fitting and mobile aluminium tower scaffolds where applicable
  • The delegate will have knowledge of the regulations governing the safe erecting, inspection and dismantling of these scaffolds and the work methods to be adopted
  • The health and safety regulations that relate to the use, erection, adaption, dismantling, storage and inspection of tube and fitting scaffolding.

To gain accreditation as a qualified Scaffolder, and therefore hold a Scaffolder card, the delegate must complete the following elements after completing the Part 2 training course:

  • NVQ L2 - Included in the Part 2 course cost
  • 1-day Basic Skills Test - There is an additional cost for this element

Evidence of competing a Part 1 Training course

A CISRS Trainee Scaffolders Card must be held for 6 months before a trainee can attend Part 2 training.

The law requires that any individual wishing to erect, alter or dismantle scaffolding must be able to prove their competency. The industry-wide accepted proof of competency for operatives is to hold a CISRS Advanced Scaffolder card. Upon completion of this 2 day course, the operative will receive a CISRS Advanced Scaffolders Card. Valid for 5 years.

This 2 day course is for people who hold a CISRS Inspection Card (or previous equivalent) or a CISRS Scaffolder Card for at least two years, or hold a CISRS Advanced Scaffolder Card (gold card).

This 3 day course is intended for CISRS Scaffold card holders or for inspection card renewals, and also for those responsible for inspecting and checking basic scaffolds for safe use, signing certificates and registers in accordance with statutory regulations. You should have awareness and experience of scaffolding structures, coming from time spent in your individual industry sector. You’ll be required to confirm this experience by producing a CV.

CISRS Trainee Scaffolder card holders will be considered a trainee scaffolder regardless of the experience they have within the scaffolding industry. Accordingly, they should not undertake any scaffolding activities unless they are under the direct supervision of a qualified scaffolder.
