EAL Level 2 Certificate in MIG Welding Short Course (AUEC2-015) Condensed
This unit identifies the training and development required in order that the student can demonstrate that they are competent in being able to: Prepare the welding equipment and to ensure that all leads/cables, shielding gas system, hoses and wire feed mechanisms are securely connected and free from damage. Student will also need to obtain and check that all the work holding equipment is in a safe and usable condition whilst producing the correct standard of weld.
Description
What you’ll learn
In preparing to weld, student’s will need to set and adjust the welding conditions, in line with instructions and/or the welding procedure specification. Students must operate the equipment safely and correctly and make any necessary adjustments to settings in line with their permitted authority, to produce the welded joints to the required specification.
On completion of the welding operations, Students will be expected to check the quality of the welds using measuring equipment, visual examination and destructive testing techniques, as appropriate to the aspects being checked. Students will need to be able to recognise welding defects, to take appropriate action to limit any faults that occur and to ensure that the finished workpiece is within the specification requirements. On completion of the welding activities, students will be expected to return all tools, equipment and work holding devices to their designated location, and to leave the welding equipment and work area in a safe and tidy condition.
Who is this course for
This course is aimed at Engineers that have a base understanding of welding principles and provides a further base to up skill, or for those wanting to gain foundational practical skills, from non-welding roles needing to understand basic Mig welding principles.
How you’ll be assessed
Assessment is done through knowledge-based questions and products of work combined with observations. The learner will receive an EAL Level 2 certificate upon completion of the course.
Prerequisites
There are no formal entry requirements for this course, however, to ensure the safety of all participants and maintain the progression pace of the course, it is essential that candidates possess a baseline of "on-the-tool" experience.
This course is designed to formalise existing skills rather than teach basic manual dexterity from scratch.
