CISRS Trainee Scaffolder card holders will be considered a trainee scaffolder regardless of the experience they have within the scaffolding industry. Accordingly, they should not undertake any scaffolding activities unless they are under the direct supervision of a qualified scaffolder. The Trainee will be expected to complete the following training within the validity of 2 x 18 month CISRS Trainee Scaffolder Cards: • COTS • CISRS Part 1 • CISRS Part 2 • NVQ Level 2/ SCQF Level 5 • CISRS 1 Day Skills Test

This unit identifies the training and development required in order that the learner can demonstrate that they are competent in being able to: Prepare the welding equipment and to ensure that all leads/cables, shielding gas system, hoses and wire feed mechanisms are securely connected and free from damage. They will also need to obtain and check that all the work holding equipment is in a safe and usable condition.

This unit identifies the training and development required in order that the learner can demonstrate that they are competent in being able to carry out turning operations on machines such as centre lathes, capstan or turret lathes, automatic or other specific turning machines.

From the 1st July 2017, it is a requirement of the CISRS Training scheme, that CISRS Scaffolders and Advance Scaffolder card holders must attend a 2-day Scaffolder Refresher/ CPD course in order to renew their CISRS cards. Renewal is required every 5 years.

The Part 2 course is the second part of the required CISRS training for the Scaffolder card. Part 2 can only be accessed when Part 1 has been successfully completed, and 6 months experience has been gained following the Part 1 course. A second Trainee card can be applied for.

The law requires that any individual wishing to erect, alter or dismantle scaffolding must be able to prove their competency. The industry-wide accepted proof of competency for operatives is to hold a CISRS Advanced Scaffolder card. Upon completion of this course, the operative will receive a CISRS Advanced Scaffolders Card. Valid for 5 years.

This course is intended for CISRS Scaffold card holders or for inspection card renewals, and also for those responsible for inspecting and checking basic scaffolds for safe use, signing certificates and registers in accordance with statutory regulations. You should have awareness and experience of scaffolding structures, coming from time spent in your individual industry sector. You’ll be required to confirm this experience by producing a CV. This course is for people who hold a CISRS Inspection Card (or previous equivalent) or a CISRS Scaffolder Card for at least two years, or hold a CISRS Advanced Scaffolder Card (gold card). You will learn the appropriate safety regulations and develop the ability to interpret design specifications and statutory regulations when inspecting complex/designed scaffolding structures for faults. You'll gain the CISRS Advanced Scaffolding Inspection Training Scheme (SITS Advanced) certificate on passing the course
